Say hello to my #1 device, my unlocked Nexus 6 from Google. People ask me all the time which phone is best for global travel, and I tell them to get a Nexus. Not only does it do everything short of making me breakfast in the morning, it takes pretty good pictures for a smartphone. Then there’s the big screen that makes Skype calls to my family and friends that much more enjoyable. To do suggest using a screen protector and case if you are prone to clumsiness (guilty!).
Since switching to an unlocked device I’ve been able to use any SIM card I’ve tried. Whether in the EU, UK, USA or elsewhere, I haven’t had an issue. And because the phone is unlocked I don’t have to contend with all the bloatware you get from providers like Verizon and AT&T.
